1. CD: Miles Davis – Kind of Blue

Sax, piano, drums and bass. 1959 New York, Miles Davis and his sextet record two sessions in Columbia Studios. These were clipped and cut to make this record. It is known fondly by the jazz community as the best record of all time.

2. Vinyl Compilation: Who is William Onyeabor?

Disco, funk, soul, and reggae: the sounds of music’s mystery man from Nigeria. William Onyeabor self-released 8 albums between 1978-1985. But then he disappeared. Last year a NY record label tracked him down and compiled their favourite tracks on this gorgeous vinyl. At 6 feet 5 William Onyeabor says he can’t dance like Michael Jackson but we KNOW you’ll be jumping out of your shoes and getting ready to move your feet to these addictive rhythms as soon as you give his record a spin!  (if you’re really eager you can get his vinyl box set)

3. Vinyl: Ibibio Sound Machine

Funky African electronic rhythms: Ibibio Sound Machine exploded 2014’s world music scene! Lead singer Eno Williams’ gorgeous voice sings Nigerian folk tales accompanied by a 9 strong line up from percussion to sax, synths to trumpet.

5. Kitty Daisy and Lewis Gig Tickets

The sibling three-piece will be treating the globe to their drum bashing, rockabilly, swing, jump, RnB blues in 2015. Their worldwide tour begins here in the UK. If the tune below, a pre-release from their new album, tickles you musical toes, you can catch them in London, Leeds, Manchester or Glasgow. We saw them at Bestival back in 2011 where their beats were so good we boogie-d the grass to mud.

6. Le Vent du Nord Gig Tickets

Playing traditional Québécois folk, this quartet from Canada carry the reputation of filling a dance floor.

7. Craig Charles Funk and Soul Club DJ Set Tickets

Fast tempos and heavy bass will get you and your lucky plus one skank-ing the night away to his funk and soul records! Mr Craig Charles says he pulls this one when a drop is in order!

8. A Vinyl Player

      A warm voice with a cheeky rhythm. Did you know…? He’s never performed live! Here’s another re-issue from Luaka Bop records. This one is called When the Going is Smooth and Good
